HCPL Youth Against Underage Drinking PSA Challenge

The Henry County Public Library is pleased to announce our underage drinking public service announcement (PSA) contest.  We are looking for motivated and creative middle and high school students to submit a video PSA addressing the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.  The winning PSAs will be compiled and copies will be give to each county school systems as well as posted on the Henry County Public Library’s website and social media.

Challenge guidelines and entry forms are available below.  You can also learn more about the challenge, film making, and underage drinking by attending the Lunch & Learn for Teens on Saturday, May 19th beginning at 11 am.  Lunch will be provided by the library.

Teen Summer Reading Begins Soon!

Tweens/Teens who have completed 6th grade can participate by picking up a Teen Reading Log from the library or bookmobile.  For the first sixteen hours spent reading they will earn  prizes and be entered into a grand prize drawing for a Kindle Fire or a $100 gift card to be used anywhere.   Extra drawing entries can be earned by reading and competing S.T.E.A.M. based challenges.

Every Tuesday this summer the library will host a special program for teens!

  • Teen Game Night on Tuesdays June 5th and July 3 will take place from 4-7 p.m.  Board and Card games will be available and there will be a Wii bowling tournament with prizes for the winning bowlers.
  • The Art of Journaling for Teens will take place Tuesday, June 12th at 4 pm.  Teen will be given a journal and fun prompts.
  • Teen Arts & Crafts with shrinking plastic, pop tab bracelets, and vinyl album painting will take place on Tuesday, June 26th at 4 pm.
  • The Teen S.T.E.M. Playground on Tuesday, July 10th at 4 pm will include Ozobots, Snap Circuits, slime, and more.
