Local History and Genealogy

Microfilm
We have microfilm chronicling Deeds and Wills, Court Orders, Marriage Licenses and Bonds, and Census Records, as well as newspapers including the Henry County Local and the Courier Journal.

Books
We have several books concerning state and local genealogy. In addition to these, however, we also maintain several general reference books and genealogy how-to books, which focus on more specific subjects. Bound books have been cataloged and are searchable in the library’s regular catalog.

Family Files
These are the names of the families included in our collection, and any cross-referencing that could be found between them.

County Files
We continue to have a card catalog (still on index cards, both handwritten and typed), that have been maintained rather well over the years and hold current information concerning the family and county files in our possession. These, however, have not been checked and therefore may have some dubious or incorrect information.

Additional Resources
Pass the Word is a discovery tool for oral history collections throughout the state of Kentucky. With over 100 archives participating by contributing their collections information, new content continues to be added.

The Henry County Historical Society is also an excellent source for any genealogical research. There are also the larger and much more complete collections at the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives.
